WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARING THIS YEAR’S WINNERS WITH YOU!
The 10th Anniversary Olympus BioScapes Digital Imaging Competition® winners will be right here on December 16, 2013 at 8:30am (Eastern US time).
What’s cooler than the intersection of awesome art and serious science? For the past decade, we’ve celebrated some of the world’s most amazing images of life’s wonders as seen through microscopes. This year, we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Olympus BioScapes Competition. Join us on December 16 when the winners of our 2013 competition are announced here. Then share links to the images you like best with your friends and colleagues.
Celebrating a decade of “Science meets Art” is no small feat especially as this year’s BioScapes Competition drew an impressive, awe-inspiring collection of entries. Microscopy enthusiasts hailing from 71 countries submitted over 2100 still images and movies, making this year’s BioScapes the most international to date. Earlier this fall, the beauty and power of science conveyed through these submissions were shared with a panel of four respected experts in microscopy and imaging who were then charged with selecting winners and honorable mentions. The winning images will be announced at the 2013 Olympus BioScapes Awards Celebration on the evening of December 15 during the American Society for Cell Biology meeting in New Orleans. You can see the winners here the next morning, at 8:30 am (EST) on Monday, December 16.
On this website, you can view our previous years’ image galleries, download screensavers, get more information on your favorite images and movies, and learn more about the Competition, its rules, judges and prizes. We also have a traveling museum exhibit. Check out the tour to see if it’s scheduled to be near you or a city you are traveling to and tell us if you know a university or science museum near you that might be interested in exhibiting BioScapes.
As the Olympus BioScapes Competition celebrates its 10th Anniversary, we continue to call the world’s attention to the extraordinary stories being told through images and movies captured by professional and amateur scientists the world over. You can help celebrate this amazing intersection of science and art by sharing links to your favorites, and, if you use a microscope, by submitting your own microscope images to next year’s competition.
